Eaglemomt's Voice - about Eaglemont, by Eaglemont, for Eaglemont
11 June 2023 Newsletter Friends of Eaglemont Village
An unusual visitor passing through Eaglemont 5 June

A bit difficult after all these years to think and speak of the King's Birthday weekend.

Have primary school classrooms had all those 1950s coronation photos of a young Queen Elizabeth removed?

Some mischief makers say the change of title should have been seized on as an opportunity to give the current 2 teams in the Monday football mega-match the boot, and have a bit of balance brought to AFL scheduling - and hence financials.

And a big Hello to all you Collingwood and Melbourne supporters.

How good to see Neil Daniher keeping his dignity and sense of humour in such trying circumstances. How good to see the community rallying behind him.

(Postscript - bit tongue in cheek above)

83,000 people, most sporting Freeze beanies as part of the MND fundraising - which exceeded $2 million - attended the game.

Great game of football between two highly credentialled teams who will play deep into season 2023.

Look at those blue beanies - even the Collingwood cheer squad got behind the initiative honouring the former Melbourne coach.

Who won? Everyone involved.

Bit of fun, bit of chatter, maybe a little chardy...........

You can always order-in Sunday night's tea, maybe it's his turn to cook. Didn't you want the teenagers to share domestic responsibility?

Recycle your way to self-satisfaction.

Our friends over at Sustainable Communities Ivanhoe are putting on a Sunday afternoon eco-friendly workshop on bag making.

Bags. We all use them, we never seem to have enough of them. We all feel the guilts of plastic bags.

Try your hand at making some alternatives to the despised plastic, enjoy some company, meet some new people.

Continuing to go up - a totally "out of scale, out of place" development in Mount Street started as a huge excavation. Now the mass above ground is daunting.
Eyesore has finally come down - the silvery grey timber skeleton stood for too many years on Banksia Street. The blight has just been demolished.
