Canary Island palms were favourite public gardens trees early last century. Once they were trimmed of dead branches. This example stands sentinel at the eastern Thorseby Grove and Sherwood Road junction.

Much more in the offing than can be revealed at this point, but let us arouse your interest by hinting at some positive developments re the built environment in and about the Eaglemont Village.

National Tree Day Events

School event Friday 28th July

Friends of Eaglemont Village will support the Year 4 class of Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School with their environmental efforts again this year.

Space for some infill planting at Substation West - plenty of greenery, needs some colour.

On 28 July there will be planting of trees (naturally), shrubs, grasses and native wildflowers at Substation West and Ashby Grove underpass.

Some FofEV volunteers will be needed to help these eager youngsters with the novelty of planting out seedlings.

Come along and "sow the seeds" for our future environmental carers.

Community event Sunday 30 July

We will hold a community working bee to begin planting the area adjacent the outbound platform recently cleared by volunteers from Equity Trustees.

As well as planting we will be doing some further clearing and landscaping - placing rocks, defining paths, weeding and pruning.

Landscape rocks to place, casuarina thicket to thin, plants to go in, mulch to spread. Fun, fun, fun.

Make a diary entry now - be a practical part of improving where we live!
