Bendigo Bank Helps FofEV

Bendigo Bank - through their Heidelberg Branch operation - continues to support Friends of Eaglemont Village.

In their 2023 community sponsorship round the Bank has awarded FofEV $3000 toward our quest for a lockable covered trailer.

We now have sufficient funds in hand to develop a detailed specification and purchase the trailer.

We will use the trailer as both a storage unit for our gardening equipment, marquee, chairs etc, and as a worksite support vehicle.

When we have working bees at, say, Ashby Grove underpass, we will be able to advertise our group, issue tools and materials, have refreshments on hand - and run a first aid station.

Put a pull-out awning on one side and we have a registration "office" for Clean Up Australia Day & National Tree Days.

We can see a role for a covered trailer at the Eaglemont markets too - identification, and a good plant sales base, all in one.

Farewell Deb - Welcome to Amon & Hayley

Some Dish regulars convinced Deb to come out "front of house" for a photo -

Another gathering of grateful Eaglemont Dish regulars bidded Debbie farewell on Friday afternoon - at the Dish naturally.

After some short speeches, an emotional Deb was presented a flower arrangement from Friends of Eaglemont Village, and told she had the Freedom of Eaglemont, the Keys to the City, and was an Honorary Eaglemont Citizen after 21 years serving our community.

Three cheers rang out, and the assembly shifted up the street to the Eagle Bar.

Now "Welcome to Eaglemont" is extended to new Dish proprietors Amon and Hayley.

Lippincott House

Heidelberg Historical Society put together a very informative tour of Lippincott House in Glenard Drive Eaglemont. The Walter Burley Griffin designed house was commissioned by the Lippincotts in 1917. It is about to be sold after being in the same family for several generations - thought to be since 1932.

Australian war artist Murray Griffin - not related - returned from being a prisoner of war in Singapore to work from an attic studio prepared by his wife when he was still incarcerated.

A granddaughter related her memories of watching Grandpa working at his easel. Wonderful contextual information.

Stephen Barlowe from Heidelberg Historical Society explained to attendees the Burley Griffin story, and the architectural details of the house.

Stephen has penned an easy-to -read booklet about the house, available through Heidelberg Historical Society.
