Bushland wildflower walks

Neglected public land around Eaglemont Station gets a make-over. Weed species are out, Australian native plants are in. The birds and insects benefit too.

Volunteers beautify approaches to Eaglemont Station.

Australian wildflowers are now a feature of the pathways to the Eaglemont Station since Friends of Eaglemont Village took on the task of improving our neighbourhood.

Many of our flowering plants are now over 4 years old - they were planted pre-Covid.

Now in 2023 we have plans to extend our plantings up around the Studley Road and Odenwald Road junction.

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) leases all the metropolitan railways infrastructure - including land - from VicTrack.

Friends of Eaglemont Village (FofEV) operates under the title "Eaglemont Stationeers" for railways purposes.

We have negotiated with MTM for their lands management contractors to do some staged tree clearance in and around the station.

Care will be taken to ensure a green belt remains intact between the rail lands and nearby houses.

FofEV will revegetate these culled areas with Australian native plants selected for their bird and insect attracting qualities.

Volunteers in our community are our best source of labour to plan and to do improvements tasks in our neighbourhood.

Volunteering is an easy way to meet people and enjoy yourself in your local community.

Volunteering is very satisfying - you can look back at a "job well done". No rosters, just opportunities to take part.

Volunteering is for everyone - bring yourself along & and a safe, satisfying role will be found for you, whatever your skills, abilities and energy levels.
