Fur, Feathers, Flowers and More #15

Eaglemont's outdoors brought to you indoors
Fur, Feathers, Flowers and More #15
This young E. caesia has been on struggle street early on, looking good now

A trip out to Edendale Nursery at Eltham this week to pick up extra tubestock for our National Tree Day planting events.

The young girls from IGGS who are participating Friday did some fundraising for plants.

Our corporate visitors from Monde Nissen at Dandenong have donated $150 toward plants, and are generously contributing their products to the morning tea.

From our own nursery we have plants grown from seed, some purchases repotted and grown on, some repotted divisions of grasses, a few cuttings that struck successfully and have been grown on.

Liz D has passed on some seedlings she could not resist at Bunnings.

Beast of the Week

Brushtailed Possum

Brush-tailed possums are about as big as domestic cats and have a pointed snout, pink nose, long whiskers and large ears. They also have sharp claws, which they use to climb trees and comb their fur.

Cute as can be - unless it is living in your roof

Bird of the Week

King Parrot

The king parrot is a large elegant bird, measuring about 43 centimetres. The handsome male is brilliant scarlet with a bright green ‘cloak’ on his wings and back, and a blue rump. The female is striking too, with her green head and back, blue rump, red belly and legs.

Simply stunning

Plant of the Week

Clay Wattle

(Acacia glaucoptera)

A dramatic prostrate wattle where pompoms are held on short stalks

Public Art in Public Places

We can, as a collaborating community, bring many types of public art to our public domain.

Garden poles bring colour and interest to this grasses-dominated landscape. But let's avoid football colours.
