Variable Spring weather must play havoc with flowering plants.

Are the days getting longer? Are the days getting warmer?

"Sometimes" or "intermittently" might not be a satisfactory situation.

The rain is good but the overcast days less so.

Icy blasts of wind accompanied by hail does little to enhance the growth cycle of our plants.

Native grasses are setting their seed heads now - we have wallaby and kangaroo grasses (and more) planted along the rail corridor as part of our bushland wildflower walks.

In the calendar of our First Nations people of the Kulin Nation this season is called "Poorneet" - the Tadpole season, leading into Buath Gurru Grass Flowering Season (November).

Sydney To Phase Out London Plane Trees

Eaglemont, Ivanhoe and Heidelberg have long had magnificent avenues of mature London Plane trees.

These deciduous trees have been a feature of the changing seasons, for example along The Eyrie and Stradbroke Avenue.

Climate change is a tolling bell for these mainstays of our urban character.
