Kays Paradise put up a Parking Lot

At a recent trip to Malibu , Los Angeles, our family visited the wonderful house and grounds of the Adamson House located on the picturesque Malibu lagoon, fronting the Pacific ocean. This house is a treasure as it showcases tiles in the Hispano- Moresque style that adorn the floors, walls and outdoor features such as the ornate fountain.

The house, gardens and pool facing the ocean are incredibly beautiful; slightly further down the PCH Pacific Coast Highway is the ornate Getty Villa (certainly worth a visit). The relevance to our newsletter?  At the conclusion of the tour, in discussion with the volunteer guide she mentioned the local community saved the house and gardens, as the Malibu council wanted to demolish the house to create a bland carpark. The locals petitioning led to the tile house and the volunteer managed gardens being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 and was declared a California Historical landmark in 1985. It is well worth a visit.
