National Volunteer Week - thank you email from VicTrack

22 May 2025

Hello everyone

It’s National Volunteer Week – a perfect opportunity to thank you and all the dedicated Station Volunteers for the wonderful work you do to beautify station precincts across Victoria.

The work you do making stations a welcoming place enhances the travel experience for both locals on their daily commute and tourists visiting our regional areas. Regional stations in particular are often the gateway to a town and arriving at an attractive station precinct must surely leave a lasting good impression.

Station Volunteers also epitomise the theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week – Connecting Communities. Each Station Volunteer group provides meaningful community connection for members, which is just as important as the beautification work.

I know that many of you have that much needed cuppa and chat after your working bee, creating new social connections. I always appreciate this when I come out to visit your working bees.

If you haven’t seen it already, please check out our Facebook post for National Volunteer Week which celebrates the fantastic work that the groups do.

I’d love to hear how your group has celebrated this week, so please feel free to drop me a line or send some photos.

Out and about

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been out and about visiting many Station Volunteer groups on site. It’s been a pleasure getting to know the volunteers and seeing the wonderful work they are doing. I plan to get out to see all of you over the next few months.

Recently I visited the Victoria Park group. They are doing a wonderful job transforming a formerly barren area as you can see below. Keep up the great work!

Once again on behalf of our program partners VicTrack, Metro Trains, V/Line, and the Department of Transport and Planning, I want to thank you for all you do - and let’s celebrate National Volunteer Week!

Kind regards
