Scroll further down for information about the upcoming Council elections; the Senior's Festival which is about to start; the Aussie Bird Count is coming up soon; Nilss has been busy again finding things about the area; and we have a couple of dogs of Eaglemont.  This month's President's report will come separately.

Happy Reading!

Eaglemont History: Nilss has sent us this:

A black and white photo of Eaglemont station I found in the internet 13 years ago, together with the accompanying text:

"I love trains, and have always enjoyed the trip into the city, about 25 minutes on a good day. Here’s Eaglemont station, with the evening light just starting to settle in after a warm summer’s day (14.01.11). This area was a stopping off point for (and lent its name to) the Heidelberg School painters; Australia’s first - European at least - significant art movement that was identifiably our own. Streeton, Roberts, et al, painted Australian landscapes and captured the "bush", portraying the unique experience of the country, its challenges and characteristics."

Also from Nilss, in the links below one has screenshots, some from a YouTube video The Hurstbridge Line, and a couple of other photos from 2009; the other has a link to the ABC radio Unofficial History of Heidelberg.
