BREAKING NEWS ....
Critically endangered Swift Parrots have been seen in the area. So far we have no photo evidence of this, so if you are able to get a photo PLEASE share it with us.
According to Birdlife Australia there may be as few as 500 of these birds in the wild, so this is very exciting news. If you are a keen birdwatcher they are asking for your help in their Swift Parrot Search between 18 July and the end of August. Some sites are in nearby suburbs (in the Port Phillip and Westernport Region). For more information follow this link: https://birdlife.org.au/events/swift-parrot-search/
Around the Village
- The Dish will be open on Sundays from July 6th for breakfast/brunch.
- We welcome The Devils Blush Fine Art Tattoo Studio, which is now open.
- Unfortunately the mechanic's workshop opening has been delayed.
- Well Done to Banyule Council. The footpath along by the Art Supply shop has recently been levelled by the Council. All it took was a couple of photos and a report on the Banyule Report It app that the raised, uneven area was a problem for people using walkers or wheelchairs. Someone came to check it the next day, and it was fixed within a couple of weeks.
- AND they have funded the new mural being painted along the laneway.

Colour on Sherwood and Alandale Roads
This time of year is when most Australian natives flower, and right now you will find all the plants below along the rail corridor, on either or both Sherwood and Alandale Roads. This is just the start, there's more to come!

Words cannot describe how disappointed we are that some selfish person has taken the spectacularly large Rose of the West gum flowers on Sherwood Road - broken them off, damaging the plant and meaning they are not there for all to enjoy. The flowers, and the nuts that follow, are really special. Unfortunately this happened last year too.
It is particularly disappointing as we keep being told how much pleasure all the flowers and interesting plants are bringing to people walking to and from the Village.

Domestic Animal Management Plan 2025-2029
This plan affects everyone who has pets. Banyule Council are consulting about this plan with feedback closing on Sunday 6 July. There's one last Information Session being held on Saturday 5 July 10.15 - 12 noon at the Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub.
This Plan follows on from a revised Council Order for the Control of Dogs and Cats in public places, which came into effect on 1 February this year. The Plan is aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and the welfare of cats and dogs in the community, whilst protecting the community and environment from nuisance cats and dogs.
Those were the days! Who remembers The Heidelberger?
Nilss found this newspaper from 1982 advertised on ebay. It is interesting to read about the Chelsworth Park pavilion, as it is due to be replaced. Plans for both Chelsworth pavilions should be available for comment later this year.
