Public Transport Ticketing System Upgrade Promised

Look back to understand what is coming
Public Transport Ticketing System Upgrade Promised
Left over from 1983.

Our much maligned Myki ticketing system has cost the State Treasury vast sums of money.

Many assert that there has been squandering of public money and poor judgement in pursuing a  "Made in Victoria" option when "off the shelf" tried and true models were available.

The State Government has announced the contract with the developers/operators of the Myki system will end late this year.

The new operator was part of the original consortium - and the world's biggest public transport ticketing business will not get the nod.

They allegedly did not want to be saddled with the limitations of the existing network of Myki card readers - but the State Government wants to persist with them.

Our train ticketing systems have an interesting history.
