Ryder-Cheshire Ivanhoe Homes in Donaldson Street, Ivanhoe, provides short-term affordable residential accommodation for country, interstate and occasional overseas patients who must attend various Melbourne hospitals for serious, urgent, or ongoing medical treatment, together with their carer.  It is a not-for-profit organisation run by The Ryder-Cheshire Victorian Homes Foundation.

The Homes have been at this site since 1981, and were very recently renovated, with upgrades to the kitchen and bathroom facilities in each room.

The Ivanhoe Homes is part of the world-wide mission of the late Group Captain Lord Cheshire VC, the most highly decorated service person in the Second World War, and his wife, the late Baroness Sue Ryder, herself a distinguished war hero, who devoted their lives to the relief of human suffering. The Foundation is non-denominational and non-discriminatory.
