Weird looking plant in Maroochydore

Hello Friends, l have no title for this month's update but l would like to thank all of you who worked so tirelessly to make our first Wildflower nature walk on Heritage day such a success. We only have feedback from some of the adult participants but it all seemed very positive.

I am sure we will be able to tweak our presentations for different groups in the future. One long lasting positive is that we now have so many of the significant Australian natives signposted and it appears the signs will be quite weather proof.

Some of you may be aware that that l spent a week in Queensland this August. One of the plants l saw up there was this beauty which l was hoping would be an Australian native.  Unfortunately it is a North American native the Red Powder puff tree. Oh well I wouldn't any of those Puffy trees in our garden!!!

Red Powder puff tree or Red shuttlecock according to my app, Leaf snap.

I would also like to thank all those who have been attending our weekend working bees, it really has made a difference.
At the most recent Saturday effort we made big difference to the garden beds down near Ashby with weeding, planting and cutting out dead trees. This area has been looked after mightily by Liz D and her family and we were well due to do working bee down there to help out.
One plant we discovered according to leaf snap was a White wattle, very striking!

White wattle, Acacia linifolia

Another striking wattle near the outbound platform is one we have trying to identify for along time and now that it is near to flowering we have seen it when buying more plants at Banyule art and garden. It has very tactile velvety leaves and strangely is called Sterling Silver Wattle although the leaves are a bit silvery with striking yellow flowers I believe it is a unusual name.

Acacia Sterling Silver

Lastly  one of the more dangerous wattles we have, the Knife wattle is flowering beautifully near the outbound platform.
